Understand your recovery while you sleep
EMFIT QS automatically tracks your sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability and respiration from under the mattress — without anything to wear.
What heart rate variability tells you
Heart rate variability (HRV) describes the variation in time between consecutive heartbeats. Rather than beating at perfectly regular intervals, a healthy heart continuously adjusts its timing in response to the autonomic nervous system.
HRV can provide useful insight into how the body responds to factors such as physical training, recovery, stress, sleep, illness and alcohol. However, HRV is highly individual. A higher value is not automatically better, and comparing your HRV directly with someone else’s is often less useful than following changes in your own values over time.
This is why repeated measurements under similar conditions are particularly valuable. By tracking HRV night after night, you can establish your own baseline and observe how it changes over time.
Why measure HRV during sleep?
HRV changes continuously throughout the day in response to activity, posture, emotions, meals and many other factors. Measuring during sleep provides long periods of data while the body is relatively free from these daytime influences.
Night-time measurement also makes it possible to observe HRV repeatedly under broadly similar conditions. Instead of relying on a single short measurement, EMFIT QS follows HRV throughout the night and automatically repeats the measurement night after night.
Because the sensor is installed under the mattress, there is nothing to wear, charge or remember to start before going to bed. This makes consistent long-term measurement particularly easy.
No wearable. No morning measurement. Just sleep.
HRV throughout the night
HRV is not a single value that remains constant throughout the night. It changes with sleep, recovery, autonomic nervous system activity and other physiological factors.
EMFIT QS continuously detects beat-to-beat intervals during sleep and calculates HRV using RMSSD (root mean square of successive differences), a widely used time-domain measure of heart rate variability. HRV RMSSD is calculated in consecutive 3-minute periods, allowing you to see how HRV changes across the night rather than reducing the entire night to a single measurement.
Looking at the overnight pattern together with longer-term trends can provide a more complete picture of how your physiology varies from night to night.
Your baseline matters more than somebody else's
HRV is highly individual. Age, genetics, fitness, lifestyle and many other factors influence the values you may see, which is why comparing your HRV directly with another person’s can be misleading.
What matters more is your own normal range and how it changes over time. With automatic measurement night after night, EMFIT QS helps you build a long-term view of your personal HRV and identify changes relative to your own baseline.
A single unusual night may mean very little. Repeated changes and longer-term trends provide much more useful context.
See how your daily choices affect your nights
Training, stress, alcohol, illness, travel, late meals and changes in your daily routine can all be reflected in your sleep and overnight physiology. The effects are individual, and they are not always obvious from how you feel the next morning.
By following your sleep, heart rate, HRV and respiration over time, you can begin to recognize patterns between what happens during the day and what happens during the night.
The goal is not to interpret every change as good or bad, but to learn what is normal for you and understand how your own body responds to different circumstances.
More than HRV
HRV is only one part of the picture. EMFIT QS monitors multiple physiological and sleep-related signals throughout the night, allowing changes in HRV to be viewed together with sleep, heart rate, respiration and movement.
Depending on the analysis and view, EMFIT QS provides information including:
Sleep — sleep and wake, sleep duration, sleep stages and sleep efficiency
Heart — heart rate, resting heart rate and HRV (RMSSD)
Respiration — respiratory rate and breathing-related information
Movement — body movement and restlessness
Bringing these measurements together provides context that a single physiological parameter cannot provide on its own.
Nothing to wear. Nothing to start. Just sleep.
EMFIT QS measures from under the mattress. There are no electrodes to attach, no device to wear and no measurement routine to remember before going to bed.
Once installed, the sensor automatically detects when you are in bed and begins collecting data. You simply sleep as usual while EMFIT QS monitors your sleep and physiology throughout the night.
Because nothing is attached to your body, the measurement itself does not require you to change the way you sleep. This also makes it practical to collect consistent data night after night over long periods of time.
Years of your own sleep and recovery data
A single night provides a snapshot. The real value of continuous sleep monitoring emerges when nights become weeks, months and years.
EMFIT QS allows you to follow long-term trends in sleep, heart rate, HRV, respiration and other measured parameters. You can look beyond individual nights and see how your own patterns develop over time.
Longitudinal data can help put short-term changes into context and make it easier to recognize persistent trends that might otherwise go unnoticed.
